Brighter Futures For Children Fund
International Support
Millions of children around the world become orphaned every year, each by a trauma of separation from their family that is uniquely painful.

For many, abandonment, poverty, court intervention, disease and death mark their paths to orphanages that work hard, but invariably and significantly are underfunded and understaffed.

Of the millions, Gladney will be able to place only hundreds for adoption in any given year. Missing out on the opportunity to be adopted into a loving, permanent home, the vast majority are the children left behind, those who will live an orphan's life until they age-out — older teenagers released to the world without the life skills, job training or self-worth needed to be safe and successful.
Direct Your Financial Support
Gladney's Brighter Futures for Children Fund provides an international children's aid framework for advancing our mission through donor-supported programs — to improve the lives of these at-risk children and help alleviate disturbing orphanage conditions in Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa and Latin America.

Gladney invites your financial participation with a gift to the general Brighter Futures for Children Fund, providing us the ability to designate its use to the most pressing need. If you desire, you also may designate a specific country's Brighter Futures efforts and/or a specific Focus Area of concern. (see below)

Focus Areas — Brighter Futures for Children Fund
Quality of Life Assistance
To establish ongoing programs in selected orphanages that address the children's basic quality-of-life needs: food, clothing, shelter improvements, educational materials and staff support, basic dental and medical care, special needs assessments and therapy, staff training, transportation, English language classes, among others.

Transition Programs for Older Orphans
To deliver programs for older teenage orphans who age-out and are released by the orphanage to the world without the life skills, job training or self-worth needed to be safe and successful, including training in trade skills pertinent to their local economy and/or the global marketplace (e.g. farming, sewing, tourism), literacy programs, English education and employment skills training.

Exploration of New Countries
To stand prepared to fund special programs and other governmental requirements consistent with exploring adoption opportunities in new countries that are important to Gladney's country mix.

Volunteer Service Trips
To create and lead volunteer orphanage trips to Gladney-involved countries, for two audiences: for youth, college-age and young professionals, similar to our first such trip to Guatemala in Summer 2008; and for adults, including APs, Gladney friends, medical professionals and others donating their time and expertise to our international children's efforts.

Bright Futures Camps
To bring prospective older orphans and prospective adoptive families together with the intent of adoption, through one-week or two-week orchestrated sessions of emersion with one another. These camps can take place in-country (families go to children) or in the U.S. (children come to the U.S. to be with families).

Emergency Relief/Special Projects
To set-aside funding to be tapped to meet serious immediate needs, e.g. disaster relief, or to fund new special projects needing quick delivery.
